I admit it - I use this! The dictionary search is also useful.
Self publish with Lulu - a print on demand service. No set-up fees and
no minimum order. They print and ship each product as it's bought, and
the purchaser pays for it. You keep control of the rights, the design,
the price and 80% of the profits.
Writely is a web word processor that provides secure
document collaboration and publishing on the web. It's like MS Word but free and perfect for working on a
piece of writing with an editor or on non-fiction with multiple other
authors.
Competitions
This competition was recommended by a fellow writer. The prize money is impressive and you can easily enter online. Deadline: 30 November 2006.
It is open to women over 18 of any nationality, provided they are
resident in the United Kingdom and have not previously had a novel or a
book of short stories published. The prize money totals over £3,000.
There is no set theme. The deadline for this year has passed.

ASLA Writing Competition has three categories for short stories of up
to 2500 words. There's also an open poetry category. Win and walk away
with £250!
Courses
Every year new writers come to the Arvon centres to
write, to listen to writers, to talk about writing and then to write
even more. This year Arvon are offering 87 classes
covering a wide spectrum of writing. The courses are open to all and grants are available for people in financial need.
